Cora D. Wilson, LL.B

Cora D. Wilson, Condominium & Development Lawyer, Arbitrator & Educator, C.D. WILSON LAW CORPORATION in Nanaimo.

Ms. Wilson was called to the Bar in 1986 in Ont. and 1991 in B.C.   She has been involved in most aspects of condominium law including "leaky condo" litigation and general litigation, dispute resolution, governance, financing, construction and development.  She has also arbitrated condominium disputes.

Although Ms. Wilson is not an engineer or an architect, she has completed all the building envelope modules and holds a certificate from the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (December, 1999).  In addition to speaking at numerous conferences on "Wet Buildings" for the Homeowner Protection Office, Strata-sphere, Appraisal Institute and the Real Estate Board, Ms. Wilson has also taken numerous courses in the area of advanced construction design, stucco application, mould and other "Leaky Condo" related issues.

In her experience, the face-sealed design constraints for exterior cladding systems is the same whether it involves wood frame construction or steel frame high-rise construction.     The deficiencies from water penetration take longer to manifest themselves in high-rise construction.

Ms. Wilson is a regular lecturer on Condo issues at Malaspina University College and numerous other professional organizations.  She is the editor of an annual condominium publication, 'Voice from the Strata-Sphere' and the publisher of the Strata Property Act:  A Practical Guide to Bylaws.  She also assists the BC Bar Association with Condominium oriented materials and lectures.
